XMPP

What is XMPP?

XMPP is a decentralized messaging protocol, as in you can use your own server and equipment to talk to other people who are using their own servers and resources; this functionality is similar to that of email . Using an XMPP client, users have access to almost any modern-day instant messaging feature; some clients even allow voice communication! Most XMPP servers, such as this one, hardly collect information – if any at all – about registered users, and support encryption for messaging, surpassing other messaging platforms in privacy and security.
